LISBON: WSET LEVEL 3 COASTAL VILLA RESIDENCY
NOMAD HOME WINE SERIES
NOMAD HOME: WINE SERIES
Nomad Home is ecstatic to introduce our new retreat series, where we partner with WSET Wine Awards instructors, sommeliers, and winemakers at the top of their craft to curate education, bespoke, and unforgettable culinary experiences.
Our Advanced Wine Education Retreat invites you to Portugal’s Lisbon coast, where a private villa near the beach becomes home for a deep dive into the world of wine. With the ocean on your doorstep and Lisbon close by, it’s the ideal setting to step out of everyday life and fully immerse yourself in your next level of wine knowledge.
Guided by an acclaimed WSET instructor and Wine Ambassador to Portugal, this retreat blends serious wine study with a holiday pace, culminating in your WSET Level 3 Award in Wines – an advanced, globally recognised qualification from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust, known as one of the gold standards in wine education worldwide.
Between sessions, you’ll move from the classroom to the glass with guided tastings, producer visits, and curated dinners, all shared with a handpicked group of entrepreneurs and creatives who are as curious about wine as they are about the world.
Master Wine in the Heart of Portugal
-
Lisbon is Portugal’s sunlit capital with an electric energy. Set against a river, the hillside neighbourhoods tumble down to the water, yellow trams curve through cobbled streets, and old stone lanes dotted with chic coffee to wine bars. It feels both historic and trendy, with grand squares, colourful façades, and a late-night culture built around long social dinners.
Portugal itself is a quiet powerhouse in the wine world. Beyond Port and Vinho Verde, the country is full of characterful regions and native grapes: elegant reds from the Douro and Dão, textured whites from Vinho Verde and Bucelas, coastal wines shaped by Atlantic breezes, and rich, layered bottles from the Alentejo sun. Lisbon is one of the best places to taste that whole spectrum in one city, from tiny neighbourhood tascas pouring simple house wine to serious bars and Michelin-starred restaurants with deep lists of Portuguese producers that rarely make it onto international menus.
-
Our home will be a private villa on the Lisbon coast with beautiful glass and light. Your days will be spent moving easily from tastings and workshops at the dining table straight out to the pool, perfect for the balmy Portuguese days in late September.
Outside, a heated pool, jacuzzi, barbecue, and undulating garden create a private little resort, with space for long private chef lunches, late-night conversations, and open-air sessions. With multiple en-suite bedrooms, a separate studio, and projection equipment for classes or film nights, it’s perfectly set up as a beachside base for studying, connecting, and unwinding between sessions, with golden sand and Lisbon’s energy only a short drive away.

The WSET Level 3 Award in Wines is an advanced qualification from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust, one of the most respected wine education bodies in the world. It’s designed for people who already have a solid foundation in wine (usually WSET 2 or equivalent knowledge) and want to move into serious, professional-level understanding of regions, styles, and quality.
Level 3 takes you far deeper into classic and emerging wine regions, grape varieties, and production methods, with a strong focus on why wines taste the way they do and how to assess quality. You’ll refine your skills using the WSET Level 3 Systematic Approach to Tasting, learning to analyse structure, balance, and development in far more detail. The course covers advanced theory on viticulture, winemaking, maturation, and global styles, and is ideal for entrepreneurs in hospitality, wine and spirits, events, or anyone who wants their wine knowledge to match the level of their career and lifestyle.
On this Nomad Home retreat, you’ll study under an accredited WSET instructor and Wine Ambassador to Portugal, tasting your way through benchmark wines in an immersive, small-group setting. At the end of the course, you’ll sit both a written theory exam and a blind tasting exam, with the opportunity to earn your WSET Level 3 Award in Wines while living steps from the ocean, in the company of like-minded founders and creatives.

WSET Level 3 Award in Wines

Guided by our expert WSET instructor, lessons and tastings will take place in our private villa, where you’ll refine your tasting skills using the Level 3 Systematic Approach, learning to analyze wines in far greater detail and assess quality with confidence.
The retreat concludes with both a written theory exam and a blind tasting exam, and successful participants will leave with the internationally recognised WSET Level 3 Award in Wines, a highly respected credential for serious wine enthusiasts and professionals alike.
WSET 2 (or equivalent knowledge) is strongly recommended before taking WSET 3. If you’re still building your foundation, we invite you to join our WSET 2 retreat first.

Charlotte
CO-FOUNDER of HANDS London
My favourite thing about Nomad Home is being able to connect with a large group of people from all over the world. I usually make friends slowly but when you spend so much time with a group of people, you become extremely close very quickly. That has been rare in my adult life and something I’ll always treasure. I’ve made friendships that will last a lifetime - we have already planned a few meetups since.
-

Laurie
FOUNDER of Outsourceful
Running my own business can get lonely and repetitive at times so it was refreshing to be able to travel, cowork, and bounce ideas with a group of founders. Although many of us were from different countries, it was surprising how much we had in common. I’ve been to multiple Nomad Home events now and the London events were a great way to meet people in my home city. There are 4 of us that met that have already set up monthly dinners; we really left as a family.

Andrea
PRODUCT MARKETING MANAGER and CONTENT CREATOR
I’ve remote worked for 5 years and found that it’s been difficult to find people that love luxury travel and have a flexible lifestyle. Nomad Home has given me a community to grow together personally and professionally with, when I honestly didn’t realize I could make these deep of connections of my adult life. What’s better is I got to do it while wine tasting and dinner partying.
-

Jesse
CO-FOUNDER of BLA Design Group and FOUNDER of Adessa Visuals
I work a lot, which means I don’t have much time to get away, socialize, or plan travel itineraries. Nomad Home has made it easy for me to just show up, enjoy unique activities and dinner parties that are off the beaten path, and connect with interesting people working on cool projects I would have never met otherwise. It was even better that I got to do all of it while getting my work done.
