NOMAD HOME WELLNESS SERIES
NOMAD HOME: WELLNESS SERIES
Nomad Home is thrilled to introduce our wellness series, where we partner with leading Ayurvedic, TCM, spiritual, and longevity practitioners to create deeply restorative experiences that nourish your body, mind, and life for the long term.
Our Traditional Chinese Wellness Retreat unfolds at The Langham, Shanghai, a five-star Michelin Guide hotel in a city of ancient roots and electric energy. Grounded in Traditional Chinese Medicine, a 2,500-year-old medical system built on restoring balance, preventing illness, and understanding the body’s rhythm. This week is a full reset amongst a cultural immersion.
Under the care of expert TCM practitioners and an immersive therapy team, you'll follow a personalized program with doctor consultations and personalized spa treatments, alongside herbal cooking workshops and ancient tea ceremonies built around Chinese food philosophy, guided day-trip experiences rooted in Chinese wellness culture, and qigong energetic exercises regulate your nervous system.
Created for founders, creatives, and remote leaders who are busy from building businesses and modern life, this Nomad Home edition gathers a small, selected group who share your pace and values. You'll leave Shanghai feeling clearer, more grounded, and with a personalized TCM protocol you can bring home and actually sustain.
Shanghai: A Five-Night Journey into TCM and Chinese Culture
-
Traditional Chinese Medicine is one of the world's oldest continuously practiced medical systems, with roots in China dating back more than 3,000 years. It's built on the idea that health is a state of dynamic balance between the body, mind, and the natural world, rather than simply the absence of disease.
Practitioners look at the whole picture: energy flow, digestion, sleep, emotional patterns, seasonal rhythms, and how stress is held in the body, and work with the concept of qi (vital energy) moving through meridians to understand where the body has fallen out of balance and what it needs to restore itself.
In a world of chronic stress, inflammation, hormonal disruption, and burnout, TCM feels surprisingly relevant. Rather than treating symptoms in isolation, it uses acupuncture, herbal medicine, cupping, gua sha, food therapy, and movement practices like qigong to regulate the nervous system, support organ function, and build the kind of deep resilience that modern life quietly erodes. For many people, it becomes less of a one-time treatment and more of a personalised framework for understanding their body and living in a way that actually sustains their health, relationships, and work over time.

Shanghai is a city of beautiful contradictions. Walk from a 1930s French Concession café down a longtang alleyway, past a wet market and a century-old herbalist, and emerge onto a boulevard of luxury boutiques and Michelin-starred restaurants. Tucked between the towers you'll find teahouses and qigong parks that have been part of daily life for generations.
Our hotel, The Langham, Shanghai sits in the heart of Xintiandi, one of the city's most storied neighbourhoods, where restored shikumen stone-gate houses line streets that once defined old Shanghai. It's a 5-star Michelin Guide hotel with a world-class spa, and the kind of place where you feel the city's history and its ambition in equal measure.
TCM here isn't a wellness trend. It's just how people live. Morning qigong in the parks. Vendors at the wet market who know which mushroom suits your constitution and apothecaries mixing the same formulas they have for decades.
-
Set in a five-star hotel in the heart of the city, this retreat is a genuine immersion into the way Chinese culture has always understood wellbeing: not as something separate from daily life, but woven through it. Through TCM consultations, ancient daily rituals, the art of tea, food philosophy, and guided experiences in some of Shanghai's most storied corners, you'll leave with a relationship to your body and its rhythms that goes far deeper than any single treatment could offer.
The week moves between the personal and the cultural. Personalized TCM consultations with your practitioner run throughout, building a picture of your constitution and what your body needs to come back into balance. Around those anchors, you'll explore the philosophy that underpins it all: how the Chinese approach food as medicine, how daily rituals like tea ceremony and qigong create nervous system stability, and how ancient frameworks for balance translate into something you can actually bring home.
Day trips take you beyond the city into the historic landscapes and sites that shaped this tradition, while evenings return you to the comfort and beauty of your hotel, with time to integrate, connect with the group, and simply be still.
Expert-Led Traditional Chinese Medicine Itinerary
Designed with TCM Food Therapist, Zoey Xinyi Gong
The TCM programming for this retreat was developed in partnership with Zoey Xinyi Gong, a Shanghai-born TCM food therapist, registered dietitian, and one of the most recognised voices in modern Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Zoey holds degrees in Nutrition and Public Health from New York University, advanced study in Traditional Oriental Medicine at the Pacific College of Health and Sciences, and is the author of The Five Elements Cookbook, published by Harper Collins.
Now based back in Shanghai, she runs her own TCM clinic, Silver Root. She has hosted hundreds of TCM dinners and workshops globally and her work has been covered by the New York Times, Bon Appetit, and the South China Morning Post. She has shaped the treatment sequencing, food philosophy, cultural experiences, and daily rituals that run through the week to ensure the experience is grounded in authentic TCM practice.
A Full TCM & Cultural Immersion
The week moves across every dimension of TCM: clinical, cultural, and everyday. A one-on-one consultation with your lead practitioner opens the retreat, mapping your constitution with building a personalized treatment plan and spa treatments.
From there, the experience widens. A TCM cooking class brings food therapy to life through Chinese seasonal eating. A master tea artisan guides you through the ritual and philosophy of tea. A day trip to the ancient water towns surrounding Shanghai grounds the whole week in the landscape that shaped this tradition. And throughout, daily ritual products by Twelve Phases weave the practices into your evening, so the practices you build here come home with you.

Charlotte
CO-FOUNDER of HANDS London
My favourite thing about Nomad Home is being able to connect with a large group of people from all over the world. I usually make friends slowly but when you spend so much time with a group of people, you become extremely close very quickly. That has been rare in my adult life and something I’ll always treasure. I’ve made friendships that will last a lifetime - we have already planned a few meetups since.

Laurie
FOUNDER of Outsourceful
Running my own business can get lonely and repetitive at times so it was refreshing to be able to travel, cowork, and bounce ideas with a group of founders. Although many of us were from different countries, it was surprising how much we had in common. I’ve been to multiple Nomad Home events now and the London events were a great way to meet people in my home city. There are 4 of us that met that have already set up monthly dinners; we really left as a family.

Andrea
PRODUCT MARKETING MANAGER and CONTENT CREATOR
I’ve remote worked for 5 years and found that it’s been difficult to find people that love luxury travel and have a flexible lifestyle. Nomad Home has given me a community to grow together personally and professionally with, when I honestly didn’t realize I could make these deep of connections of my adult life. What’s better is I got to do it while wine tasting and dinner partying.
-

Jesse
CO-FOUNDER of BLA Design Group and FOUNDER of Adessa Visuals
I work a lot, which means I don’t have much time to get away, socialize, or plan travel itineraries. Nomad Home has made it easy for me to just show up, enjoy unique activities and dinner parties that are off the beaten path, and connect with interesting people working on cool projects I would have never met otherwise. It was even better that I got to do all of it while getting my work done.
